Painter and sculptor, born 15 December 1854 in Gumbinnen (East Prussia) - died 1918

1871, moves to Berlin to become a lithographer, attends the Teaching Institute of the Museum of Applied Arts. 1877-80, studies at the Academy of Art. The majority of his works show wild animals. Travels in Germany, the Orient, Norway and the polar regions. Patronage of the Royal Courts. 1888, the German Emperor Franz Josef in Vienna acquires one of his works. Emperor Wilhelm II acquires the painting of a sixteen-point stag. 1892, member of the Berlin Academy of Art. His paintings are exhibited at museums in Berlin, Bremen, Königsberg and Münster.
