1880-1888 Studies at the Düsseldorf Academy, 1888-1892 at the Karlsruhe Academy. Since 1892 free-lance artist in Karlsruhe. Paintings by Hans Richard von Volkmann are exhibited in the Berlin National Gallery, in the Fribourg Art Collection, in the Karlsruhe Kunsthalle, in der Munich Pinakothek and in many other museums.
