Rosenow, Hannes

Portrait and landscape painter, born 5 June 1925 in Ratibor/Upper Silesia - died 28 July 2000 in Munich

Studies at the Academies in Düsseldorf, Berlin, Munich and at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts, Paris after graduating from grammar school. 1948-53, works in France with Joseph Beuys and others. From 1952, lives and works in Munich -Schwabing. 1959-60, stays in Veneto and the Tuscany. Travels to Italy, Yugoslavia, and Greece. Portrait works commissioned in the USA. 1953-94, contributes every year to the exhibition “Große Kunstausstellung“ [Munich Art Show] at the “Haus der Kunst“. 1978, one-man exhibition at the “Haus des Deutschen Ostens“ in Düsseldorf, (catalogue). Takes part in numerous exhibitions in Germany and abroad. 1972, Seerose-Price of the city of Munich. 1987, Upper Silesian Cultural Price. President of the exhibition management at the “Haus der Kunst” and chairman of the Artists’ Association in Munich. For many years member of the artists’ guild “Seerosenkreis“ in Munich-Schwabenheim. Numerous works belong to public or private collections.
