Painter of animals and hunting subjects, born 1922 in Düsseldorf

Trains initially in graphic design, then studies at the Düsseldorf School of Art. Travels in Belgium, Holland, Austria, Italy and Spain. 1955-60, working with his uncle Cornelius Bender in Antwerp who is painter and restorer at the Royal Fine Arts Museum. He says his model has been the Düsseldorf artist Hugo Mühlig (1854-1929), painter of landscapes and hunting scenes.
