Müller, Richard

Painter and graphic artist, born 28.7.1874 in Tschirnitz (Bohemia), died 07.05.1954 in Dresden-Loschwitz

Student at the Royal Academy of Dresden (Gay and Pohle). Self taught etcher, influenced by Klinger. In 1896 he received the Award of Rome, in 1900 the Gold Medal Award at the world exhibition in Paris. Extraordinary drawer and etcher (his dry point etchings prove amazing craftman’s experience). His portrayels in their flat, hard and non-picturesque manner amaze with their meticulous and realistic depiction of details. His works are presented in the Galerie Dresden, Moderne Galerie Prag, Berliner Nationalgalerie, Kunsthalle Karlsruhe (Museum of Art in Karlsruhe) and in the museums of Leipzig and Königsberg.
